India records 573 new COVID-19 cases and 2 deaths

India has recorded 573 new cases of COVID-19 and the number of active infections has risen to 4,565, the Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday.

According to ministry data updated at 8 a. m. , two new deaths from the disease were reported, one in Karnataka and one in Haryana, in the 24-hour area.

The number of daily cases had dropped to double-digits till December 5, but cases have again gone up after the emergence of a new variant and cold weather conditions.

The figures were in lakhs at the peak of the pandemic, which began in early 2020 and saw more than 4. 5 crore infected and more than 5. 3 lakh deaths in about four years since then across the country.

The number of people cured of the disease stands at more than $4. 4 million, with a national recovery rate of 98. 81 percent, according to the ministry’s website.

According to the website, 220. 67 million rupees of Covid vaccine doses have been administered in the country.
