India records 2,119 new Covid cases, active case rises to at least 25,000

New Delhi: India saw a buildup of 2119 new infections in a single day, bringing the coronavirus number to 4,46,38,636, while the number of active cases dropped to 25,037, according to Union Health Ministry data updated Friday.

The death toll rose to 5,28,953 with 10 deaths adding five reconciled deaths in Kerala, according to data updated at 8 a. m.

Active instances account for 0. 06% of the total number of infections, while the national recovery rate from COVID-19 has risen to 98. 76%, the fitness ministry said.

A minimum of 473 cases were recorded in the number of active COVID-19 cases in 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate recorded at 1. 13%. The weekly positivity rate was recorded at 0. 97%, according to the Ministry of Health.

The number of other people who recovered from the disease amounted to 4,40,84,646, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1. 18%.

According to the ministry, 219. 50 million rupees of doses of covid vaccine have been administered in the country as a component of the national covid-19 vaccination campaign.

India’s COVID-19 count surpassed the 20,000,000 mark on 7 August 2020; 30 lakh on 23 August; 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. It surpassed 60 lakh on 28 September; 70 lakh on 11 October, crossed 80 lakh on 29 October; 90 lakh on 20 November and passed a crore on 19 December.

India crossed the grim milestone of two crors of coronavirus cases on May 4, 3 crore on June 23 last year and 4 crore on January 25 this year.

The five new deaths reported in the 24 hours are in Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Punjab and West Bengal.
