According to the most recent figures published through Johns Hopkins University, 18,614,542 cases have been detected worldwide, with 702,330 deaths and another 11,181,018 recovered people.
In India, there were 1,908,254 cases shown and 39,795 deaths, with 1,282,215 people recovered from the virus.

Initially, it appeared that Kerala had her Covid-19 epidemic under control. There were days when the Communist-led state did not report new cases.
This contrasted with the rest of India, where cases were rapidly expanding. India is now the third most affected country in the world, only the United States and Brazil in terms of total number of infections.

India’s Ministry of Health reported 52,509 new cases of coronavirus on Wednesday, bringing the country’s overall total to more than 1.9 million. There were 857 new deaths, leaving the death toll in India at 39,975.

(Reuters) With a large deployment of troops and barbed rope barricades, India placed Kashmir on the strictest blockade for several months on Wednesday, the first anniversary of the Himalayan region’s loss of autonomy.
The streets of Srinagar, Kashmir’s main city, were deserted, with armed paramilitaries and police guarding the barricades to enforce a tax blockade in the first place on Tuesday to avoid violent protests.
Senior police official Vijay Kumar said security agencies had gained reports of a suicide bombing or attempted attack on politicians, and that restrictions would tighten on Wednesday.
“We’re following the situation,” he told Reuters.
