India recorded 2,797 new Covid-19 infections on Saturday, bringing its total to 4,46,09,257, while the number of active cases fell below 30,000 after 122 days, according to data from the Union Health Ministry.
The death toll from the viral disease stood at 5,28,778 with 24 deaths, adding 12 deaths recorded in Kerala, according to data updated at 8 a. m.
There are 29,251 active cases of Covid-19 in India, accounting for 0. 07% of the total number of infections. The national recovery has increased to 98. 75%, the ministry said.
A drop of 1,111 instances was recorded in the number of active instances of Covid-19 in the 24-hour area.
The daily positivity rate recorded at 1. 05%. The weekly positivity rate was recorded at 1. 30 percent, the ministry said.
The number of other people who recovered from the disease rose to 4,40,51,228, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1. 19 percent, he said.
So far, 218. 93 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered from the national vaccination campaign, according to the ministry.
India’s Covid-19 count had crossed the 20 lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16. He surpassed 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the crore mark on December 19.
India reached the grim milestone of two million rupees in May last year, 3 crore on June 23 and four million rupees on January 25 this year.
The 12 new deaths come from five from Maharashtra and one from Delhi, Gujarat and Karnataka, the ministry said.
