The Union Health Ministry said on Tuesday that the country recorded 23 new Covids in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 4,49,96,676.
In its latest update, the ministry reported that another 28 people recovered from the disease in the same period, taking the total number of recoveries to 4,44,63,280.
While the recovery stands at 98. 91 percent, the number of active instances amounts to 1,470.
According to the ministry, the country has recorded a total of 5,31,926 Covid deaths since the start of the pandemic in early 2020.
Meanwhile, more than 220. 67 million rupees of Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far.
In view of recent reports of the detection of some variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus around the world, P. K. Mishra, the prime minister’s chief secretary, chaired a high-level assembly on Monday to review the global and national Covid-19 scenario.
