The solar farm uses more than 1,800 solar panels to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by about 1,000 tons per year, according to Carnival Corp.
The allocation is the first of its kind in the Dominican Republic and reduces the port’s dependence on fossil fuels, said Joel Santos, Minister of the Presidency of the Dominican Republic.
Carnival has Corp. se set a goal of reducing carbon intensity by 20% from 2019 degrees to 2030 and conducting carbon-neutral maritime operations by 2050.
