The head of Mexico’s efforts to combat the coronavirus pandemic has ignored resignation orders after the death toll in Mexico increased to outperform the UK as the third in the world.
Undersecretary of Health Hugo Lopez-Gatell expressed his respect for the 32 state governors of Mexico who called for his resignation and added, “I hope we can continue to paint together,” the Associated Press reports.
Mexico reported that 688 showed deaths through Covid-19 on Friday, bringing its cumulative total to 46,688.
