Impact of COVID-19 on the welfare of the Polish GPS

January 20, 2025

The following is a summary of the “well-being of doctors of polished doctors that the exam is based on the Pandemia Pandemia COVID-19”, published in the January 2025 factor of primary care through Nessler et al.

The COVID-19 pandemic caused psychological distress to both the general population and healthcare workers. Physicians’ well-being is crucial to overall health.

The researchers carried out a retrospective exam to evaluate the effect of the COVVI-19 Pandemic on the well-being of the general professionals (GPS).

They collected knowledge through a self-declared 162 GPS online questionnaire in Poland between December 2020 and August 2021, as a component of the Pricov-1Nine foreign exam. The Mayo Clinic Nine-Item Well-Being Index (EWBI) assessed GPS well-being. Spearman’s correlation has measured the associations between miseries and variables non-stop, while gamma correlation was used for ordinal variables. The Kruskal-Wallis check was implemented to compare misery titles in practice.

The results showed that 80% of respondents were at risk of distress, with an eWBI score of 2 or more. Higher distress scores were linked to increased responsibilities and the perceived need for additional training. Collaboration with neighboring practices and adequate governmental support were protective factors. No correlation was found between distress levels and years of experience, number of patients, number of doctors, practice location, or working with vulnerable populations.

The researchers noted that Covid-19 imposed significant emotional strain on Polish general practitioners. The review highlighted the need for specific facilities and allocation of the number one physical care resources in long-term crisis.
