‘I’m astonished’ cry fans as family favourite restaurant chain part of group with 230 sites abruptly closes branch

A chain of favorite FAMILIA eating places closed one of its branches, leaving enthusiasts “in awe. “

Café Rouge, part of the Big Table group, has 12 branches in the UK.

The Big Table Group also owns Las Iguanas and Bella Italia, as well as brands such as Frankie

It operates more than 230 locations across the country.

But now, Café Rouge closed the shutters of its Brighton Marina on February 1.

Customers took to social media to weigh in on the decision.

One Facebook post read: “Sad, I’m going to miss Café Rouge. Excellent food!”

Another wrote, “I’m amazed. “

While a third added: “What a pity!”

It comes after Café Rouge closed its location on Seamoor Road, Westbourne, Bournemouth, in December.

The chain has restaurants in London, Cardiff and Portsmouth.

Restaurant and beverage chains in general have suffered for months as the cost of living has led to reduced customer spending at restaurants.

The hospitality sector as a whole struggled to recover from the pandemic and was hit by rising energy expenses and inflation.

Several chains were also affected, with branches of brands such as Wetherspoons closing.

Byron Burger took over last year, and owners said it would result in the loss of more than 200 jobs.

Italian dining chain Prezzo revealed plans to shut 46 restaurants as a result of soaring energy and food costs, putting 810 jobs at risk.

This comes after TRG, which also owns Wagamama, was due to close around 40 sites until April this year.

Its entire recreational park is planned to be reduced from 116 sites to between 85 and 85.

TRG, which first pronounced the closures in March 2023, reported mounting losses last year and said some of its restaurant chains had been hit by the cost-of-living crisis.

There have been dozens of closures so far, Frankie notes.

TRG also had to close hundreds of its restaurants as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

At least 61 Chiquito restaurants closed in 2020, resulting in the loss of approximately 1,500 jobs.

He then closed 125 of his restaurants and added many Frankie establishments.

It has also shut down its Food and Fuel pub chain in London.
