Formula 1 drivers will have another look at the Zandvoort circuit ahead of Sunday’s Dutch Grand Prix at Friday’s immediate practice consultation. The Old School circuit opened in 1948 and housed the Formula 1 circuit intermittently from 1952 to 1985 before leaving it for 35 years. Max Verstappen of the Netherlands won the lap race last year and returns home with a dominant lead in the drivers’ standings with 8 races remaining in this year’s programme. The drivers will face 29 feet of altitude on the 2,646-mile circuit and the celebrated Tarzan turn at the end of the start/finish straight.

The first corner, the Tarzan corner, had a body of more than 18 degrees before last year’s race, but it is not the only very susceptible corner of the course. Curve 3, known as the Hugenholtz curve, is susceptible to 19 degrees, while curves thirteen and 14 have an inclination of 18 degrees.
Fast and fast corners provide opportunities to overtake, especially in the first corner, where there is space both inside and outside for overtaking.
Formula 1 was due to return to the Netherlands in 2020, but the race was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Verstappen ruled last year’s event, beating Lewis Hamilton by more than 20 seconds to climb to the most sensible step of the podium. and surpass the seven-time world champion heading into his first Formula 1 title.
