India kicked off the world’s largest vaccination campaign on Jan. 16 and a total of 23,67,67,643 immediate doses have been administered so far. Although the vaccination campaign has gained momentum, it has led to many frauds related to fake vaccination certificates. To combat this In this battle, the Center now provides assistance to citizens and service providers to verify the authenticity of the vaccination certificate on its CoWIN portal, the virtual platform that helped it launch and put into effect a national vaccination program. Users can check the validity of their vaccination certificate through their smartphone.
Step 1: Go to the CoWIN–cowin. gov. in portal and locate the “platform” option at the top right.
Step 2: Select “Verify Certificates”
Step 3: An option that says “QR Scan” will now appear. Users note that the platform will require permission from the camera to work.
Step 4: The button will turn on your camera and allow you to scan the QR code displayed in the back right corner of your certificate.
Step 5: If your certificate is genuine, the CoWIN app will say “Certificate Verified Successfully”. If the certificate is fake, a message will appear that says “Invalid certificate”.
At the same time, the Supreme Court said that it is not mandatory to have a toll-free number to register for COVID-19 vaccination, as the Center already has walk-in vaccination, where other people can get vaccinated without prior registration. The court said that other people who are not registered on the CoWIN portal can simply stop at those shelters, register and get vaccinated against COVID-19.
