House Approves $858 Defense Bill Ending Army Mandate for COVID-19 Vaccine

Dec. 8 (UPI) — The U. S. House of RepresentativesThe U. S. government on Thursday approved an $858 defense bill by a vote of 350 to 80. Cancels COVID-19 vaccine requirement for military personnel.

President Joe Biden and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin have said they oppose the vaccine requirement.

According to the Defense Health Agency, the army corps of workers will be required to get vaccines while on duty, adding measles, influenza, hepatitis A and B, meningococcal disease, polio, tetanus, chickenpox, diphtheria and whooping cough. But the COVID-19 vaccine requirement was the only one eliminated in this legislation.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said the repeal of the COVID-19 vaccine requirement for the military workforce is “a victory for our military and doesn’t make unusual sense. “

By party, 180 Democrats and 149 Republicans voted yes. There were Republicans and 39 Democrats.
