There has been a new surge in COVID cases, according to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), in the last week alone, hospitalizations have risen as high as 21% across the United States, with some of the highest numbers being in western Minnesota. There are at least four new hospitalisations and we see aged care services experiencing a surge as national health officials warn of the new variant and the potential effect it could have on public health.
The new variant of COVID, called BA. 2. 86 or Pirola, would be the most mutated of all previous variants of the virus. It is not yet widespread in the United States, but cases have already been reported in several states. are low here at Twin Ports, however, experts say that by paying close attention to the symptoms, we will help keep everyone safe. We speak with Kathy Ronchi, she is the fitness officer for the Wisconsin Department of Health Services in Douglas County.
“If you have symptoms like fever or any kind of illness, whether you test positive or not, restrict your access to others who are possibly vulnerable. And that includes young children. This includes the elderly. Also, if you think we’re in the company of who undergoes cancer treatments or that sort of thing. The responsibility of others to manage their own physical care and limit their exposure remains very important.
Kathy also advises parents to be aware of their child’s symptoms while also emphasizing the importance of getting vaccinated.
“Make sure you’re not vaccinated as a child or adult. In fact, if you’ve contracted a vaccine-preventable disease, such as whooping cough, flu, or any of those illnesses, and you also have COVID, you may simply get sick. . So make sure your vaccinations are up to date, which includes all general vaccines in your regimen.
