Homeslice Offers Dishes to Share a Fun Italian Menu

After years of creation, Homeslice opens in downtown Dana Point, where it gives an insight into Italian cuisine.

The Dana Point Chamber of Commerce welcomed the city’s last dining spot to the local business network in a ribbon-cutting rite on Monday, Oct. 30.

The restaurant aims to emphasize the sense of network in the Lantern District, offering consumers a variety of signature dishes to share. Co-owners Max Fisher and Kegan Neall said they envisioned an area where friends could simply gather, share food and feel at home. .

“Homeslice is like our home,” Fisher said. It’s a place to share and share time. That’s our new slogan.

Fisher added that the restaurant’s head chef, Marc Sullivan, “has created a smart menu designed for sharing. “

“All the pieces on our menu are portioned, sliced and served as an appetizer, so couples can come and eat 3 or 4 pieces, combine them, eat a steak, eat some salad, eat gnocchi and enjoy everything they have. shared,” Fisher said.

Fisher noted that 3 weeks after opening, the restaurant’s pizzas are a crowd favorite. Acknowledging that there are several pizzerias nearby in the city, Fisher said Homeslice’s pizzas are unique and that the varied menu offers consumers a different dining experience.

Neall Homeslice aims to be “a light, unique, fun and welcoming take on Italian cuisine”.

“All of our dishes are fun, lively, and we’ve tried to refine the ingredients and taste so that we can appeal to a wide diversity of people, but also be kind and focus on the taste and share everything. the dishes,” Neall said.

When the partners, Max and his father, Richard Fisher, and couple Sasha and Kegan Neall, came up with the concept of Homeslice, Neall said they envisioned a space where all the tables were together and consumers ate “community style. “

Despite the separate tables, Neall noted that the area still offers a communal atmosphere.

As a local, Neall said the concept of unity and location at the center of the restaurant “further deepens that sense of position and position and is vital to me. “

At the rite of dedication Monday afternoon, Dana Point Mayor Mike Frost noted that a few years after his circle of relatives first moved to the Lantern District in 2009, he was thrilled to see Fisher take over an old Starbucks to launch The Shwack Beach Grill. .

“For me, I know we hadn’t started downtown, but for me, this is my first example from a business investment standpoint, enthusiasm and effort,” Frost said. “I walked in and, Max, you were doing your own inner work. “

“From a resident’s perspective, I was really excited for you, because I thought, ‘Boy, you don’t necessarily need change, but you need enthusiasm, you need effort,'” Frost continued. “Max and I were younger at the time, so it was great. “

More than 10 years later, Frost said it’s exciting to see Fisher continue to invest in the domain as he opens his new community-focused dining spot.

“As a resident, oh my God, that’s good for me,” Frost said.

Frost noted that the Lantern District has thrived thanks to new businesses opening through the locations, pointing to Christian Goodman, owner of Dana Point Ale House; the Winklers, owners of the former Dana Point Hotel; Danielle Desimone, owner of HŌM; and Fisher and his partners, who also live in the community.

Fisher said the dining spot faced hurdles such as supply chain issues, staffing issues and others before opening.

“We are very pleased to be open. It’s been a long adventure for our entire team,” Fisher said. “Kegan and I started talking about doing a joint task about 4 years ago, and COVID and all that. “This caused things to be rejected, rejected, rejected. “

“You call it, we had a challenge with that,” Fisher said. “Through it all, we’re here and we’re excited to serve our community. “

As a Dana Point resident, Fisher said he enjoys traveling and loves looking at his other business, Shwack, across the street.

“We have plans for that, to do some transformation and development,” Fisher said. “We are very excited about the dominance of the center as a whole. There’s a lot going on. Winkler’s assets are moving forward. We’re excited to be a component (of the center).

Homeslice is at 24471 Del Prado, Suite D, Dana Point.
