500,000 nautical miles and 6. 5 million meals served in the first year
SEATTLE, July 25, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Holland America Line guests and team members celebrated a vital milestone this weekend, marking a full year of returning to sailing after the cruise industry’s hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nieuw Amsterdam the first return shipment of the line, resuming the cruise on July 24, 2021 in Seattle, Washington. The shipment reached the one-year mark while in Whitter Harbor, Alaska.
Holland America Line has operated more than 240 cruise ships over the past year and more to come as it sails the entire fleet.

Over the past year, Holland America Line’s remaining 10 ships were restarted at destinations as ports opened to visitors. Berlin America Line has scored the return of its shipments of the year, welcoming the last shipment in service in June 2022:
Eurodam, 15 August 2021; Koningsdam, 10 October 2021; Rotterdam, 20 October 2021; Nieuw Statendam, 21 November 2021; Zuiderdam, 23 December 2021; Noordam, 24 April 2022; Oosterdam, May 2022; Zaandam, May 12, 2022; and Westerdam, 12 June 2022.
Volendam began receiving Ukrainian refugees in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on April 5, 2022, as part of an announced agreement with the Netherlands and the city of Rotterdam. The shipment will be repositioned for a cruise on Sept. 24 from Italy.
