RECENT DEVELOPMENTS:
Flu numbers have declined further over the past week, according to the most recent data from Ottawa Public Health (OPH), as have RSV trends. Flu levels are still high and RSV is milder.
The COVID-19 picture remains generally high and stable.
Meanwhile, the number of respiratory emergency room visits and the total number of emergency room visits in the city have declined for 3 consecutive weeks.
Experts recommend that people cough, wear masks, keep their hands and touching surfaces clean; stay home when you’re not in good health and stay up to date on COVID and flu vaccines to help protect yourself and other vulnerable people.
OPH says the city’s fitness services remain the top risk for respiratory illnesses, as has been the case since late August. This is expected to be the case until at least March.
Spread
There has been a major adjustment in Ottawa’s average coronavirus-related wastewater over the past week.
The capital reached its highest average of 2023 on New Year’s Eve and then gave the impression of falling mostly after last week’s spiking.
This knowledge now suggests that Ottawa reached its second-highest average and highest reading recorded on Jan. 12.
As of Jan. 22, it had declined from that high. At times it has been increasing for more than six months.
OPH claims that the level of wastewater is very high.
The weekly average test positivity rate in the city is a stable 15 per cent, which OPH still sees as high.
Hospitalizations, epidemics, and deaths
Over the past week, the average number of Ottawans in hospitals for COVID-19 has remained stable at 49.
A separate, broader count, which includes patients who underwent COVID testing after being admitted for other reasons, who were admitted for lingering COVID complications, or who were transferred from other fitness units, fell to its lowest point since October.
OPH considers the number of new COVID-related hospitalizations in the city (43) to be high.
The number of active COVID outbreaks is solid: 25, most commonly in nursing homes or nursing homes. There are a high number of new outbreaks.
The gym reported 264 additional COVID cases and five additional COVID deaths in the last week. All patients were people 80 years of age or older.
The next update on DPO vaccination will be on Monday.
After almost 4 years, OPH has announced that it will also be finalizing its COVID-specific panel next month. Your updates on breathing will continue.
The Kingston Region Health Unit says we are also in the midst of an era of maximum threat to respiratory diseases. His photographs of COVID-19, flu, and RSV are all stable: COVID and flu are at higher levels, and RSV appears lower. .
The Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) Global Assessment assesses overall breathing as moderate and stable.
The Hastings Prince Edward (HPE) Department of Public Health, like Ottawa, provides a weekly average of COVID cases in hospitals. This number has fallen back to 18. La flu activity is low.
Western Quebec has a stable 51 hospital patients who have tested positive for COVID. The province reports one more COVID death there.
HPE reported five more COVID deaths in its weekly update. The EOHU and Kingston regions reported 3 more each, and Leeds, Grenville and Lanark (LGL) counties reported two more.
LGL’s awareness dates back to January 14, when its trends were high and low. The next update from Renfrew County is expected later Thursday.
