Authorities around the world are enforcing restrictions on travelers from China as Covid-19 cases rise in the country following the relaxation of “zero-Covid” rules.
They cite a lack of data from China on the variants and concern about a wave of infections. China has rejected complaints about its knowledge of Covid and said it expects long-term mutations to be potentially more transmissible but less severe.
Below is a list of for travelers from China.
USA. The U. S. government will impose mandatory Covid-19 verification on passengers from China starting Jan. 5. All air passengers over the age of two will want a negative verification result no more than two days before departure from China, Hong Kong or Macau. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also said U. S. citizens also deserve to reconsider China, Hong Kong and Macau.
The UK will require a negative Covid-19 before passengers leave China from January 5, the Department of Health announced on Friday.
France will require travelers from China to provide a negative Covid result less than 48 hours before departure, the fitness and shipping ministries said on Friday.
Starting Jan. 1, France will also conduct random Covid PCR tests on arrival on some travelers from China, an official told reporters.
Travelers from China to Australia will be required to present a negative COVID-19 check from Jan. 5, Australia’s Health Minister Mark Butler said Sunday, joining other countries that have implemented restrictions as cases rise in China.
The country has imposed a negative Covid-19 report for travelers from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Thailand, the fitness minister said. Passengers from those countries will be quarantined if they have symptoms or test positive.
Air travelers to Canada from China will need to test negative for covid-19 no more than two days before departure, Ottawa said Saturday, joining other countries that have such restrictions in place.
Japan will require a negative Covid-19 check on arrival for mainland Chinese travelers. Those who test positive will be required to quarantine for seven days. The new border measures for China went into effect on Dec. 30. The government will also restrict airlines’ applications to build flights to China.
Italy ordered Covid-19 antigen swabs and virus sequencing for all travelers from China. Milan’s main airport, Malpensa, had already begun screening passengers from Beijing and Shanghai. “The measure is essential to ensure the surveillance and detection of imaginable variants. of the virus to protect the Italian population,” Health Minister Orazio Schillaci said.
Spain will require a negative Covid-19 or a full cycle of vaccination against the disease on arrival for travelers from China, said the country’s fitness minister, Carolina Darias.
Malaysia will screen all incoming travelers for fever and sewage from aircraft from China for covid-19, Minister Zaliha Mustafa said in a statement.
Taiwan’s Central Epidemic Command Center said all passengers on direct flights from China, as well as by boat on two offshore islands, will be required to undergo PCR tests upon arrival, starting Jan. 1.
South Korea will require travelers from China to provide negative Covid effects before departure, South Korea’s News1 news firm reported on Friday.
Morocco will impose a ban on other people arriving from China, regardless of nationality, from Jan. 3 in the face of any new wave of coronavirus infections, the Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.
The Philippines believes it is mandatory to accentuate border surveillance and enforcement for people entering, especially from China, which is experiencing record COVID-19 cases, Manila’s Health Ministry said Saturday.
