1. More than 33 million people across Pakistan have been affected by fatal flash floods, the worst floods to hit Pakistan in decades.
2. More than 1,300 people, totaling only about 500 children, lost their lives. Another 12,000 were injured.
3. Flash floods from monsoon rains submerged thousands of houses, wiping out towns and villages. Families have lost everything and need shelter, clean water, food, hygiene and medical care.
4. The number of hungry people has increased by an alarming 45% since the floods. More than 8. 6 million people now face crises or emergency levels of lack of food confidence, most of them in flood-affected areas.
5. Save the Children provides emergency aid to families and runs two medical camps in flood-affected Swat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, where groups provide life-saving medical care to young people suffering from flood-related illnesses. As of October 3, we had reached about 40,000 people, totaling about 20,000 young people.
Some primary rivers have damaged their banks and primary dams have overflowed, destroying homes, farms and critical infrastructure, roads, hospitals and schools.
