The physical and intellectual well-being of our workers and contractors is a very sensible priority for Paramount, and we can never ignore it. In 2021, like many businesses, our purpose remains to navigate the ongoing pandemic while we make plans for the long-term of the business.
Mental Health and Wellness
We have had unprecedented pressure on our collective intellectual fitness in recent years. For many, those limitations have been compounded through the prolonged transition to remote painting models and the blurring of the barriers of paintings and life.
At Paramount, we recognize that we have the opportunity to deal with those demanding situations and provide targeted support to our staff. We will be offering confidential mind-conditioning resources to help our staff and their families throughout the year. CCA@YourService, a flexible service that offers intellectual conditioning resources over the phone and short-term counseling 24/7, functions as an assistance program for workers worldwide. Paramount signed up for Ginger’s pilot program, Ginger for Teens, to help covered teens in select U. S. states. The U. S. government has access to emotional support coaches. These resources are provided to staff around the world, adding part-time staff and contractors.
In 2021, we hosted several wellness webinars for workers and their families, adding a Q&A consultation with a leading burnout expert, as well as a webinar about our Thrive Global offerings.
In October 2021, we also implemented a new weight management program called FULLFILL for eligible Paramount workers and their dependents.
Back to current reaction to COVID-19
After more than two years of mostly remote operation, returning to pre-COVID workdays requires an adjustment. At Paramount, we organized a cross-functional Return to the Office (RTO) execution organization to expand a phased plan as we move toward a hybrid execution “new normal. “
In 2021, the RTO Working Group, led by a member of our finance team, covers many departments of the company. The team worked hard with our CTO to create a return-to-paintings plan focused on intentional collaboration and flexibility. Under this plan, approximately 76% of our U. S. workforce is in the U. S. workforce. In the U. S. , the U. S. will use a hybrid model, 8% will be completely remote, and 16% will be required to work in the office. Check-ins with painters as they adjust to their “new normal. “We also focus on education administrators and painters to better equip them to navigate this transition.
In addition, we introduced a Commuter Community program in New York City and Los Angeles to unite workers along commuter routes when they return to the office, with priority for public and passenger protection.
To make certain protocols within the workplace, we institute a vaccination requirement for our staff and inspire, but do not require, a booster shot. Our mask policy, at the time of publication of this report, is to inspire anyone who wishes to wear a mask in work settings to wear one. We’ve also brought in new fitness offerings for certain locations, such as an on-site nursing position at our New York workplace. We began a slow return to the workplace in March 2022, with hybrid work schedules starting in April.
Ensuring the protection and fitness of workers
Protecting the employees, the production corps of painters and other professionals who feed our paints is a key domain of the “social” component of our ESG approach.
At our production sites, offices and other painting sites, our painters face a variety of physical hazards when solving lighting, moving appliances and performing other responsibilities that bring our scenarios and operations to life. To address those threats, we expand threat reduction, prevention and mitigation plans and formulate policies as needed, under the oversight of our Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) teams.
Members of the production team must attend protection meetings that provide information about potential protection hazards on set that day. In 2021, all production staff had to receive mandatory education on the COVID-19 protection protocol. We also require job- and event-specific protective education for employees, where applicable.
We try to track and report knowledge of protection, fitness and protection incidents across the enterprise. Our in-house threat control team receives incident reports that identify trends and assess root causes, and EHS implements procedural and education adjustments as appropriate.
On-site health care will also be available at some job sites and production sites, as well as medical and medical assistance at many production sites. For example, following our slow return to the workplace in early 2022, we brought a registered workplace nurse service at 1515 Broadway in New York City, as well as the return of our Wellness Studio, which provides training and education options.
Security and Emergency Response
Our Global Security Command Center (GSCC) oversees security and emergency response efforts for Paramount Global. It conducts 24/7 threat investigations to identify potential business or security threats, and maintains a real-time dashboard of the location of Paramount Global team members, business travelers and assets, aggregating offices and productions around the world. The February 22 war in Ukraine, where updates on the situation on the ground are provided, adding the locations of our employees located there and in Russia. This ongoing threat assessment includes analysis of social media and other resources for potential threats to employees, skills, and events. We then scale up reaction and mitigation plans in real time, and express threats as needed.
To prepare for emergencies, we conduct business unit-level testing of key processes and equipment needed to maintain the business in the event of catastrophic events. We adopt crisis preparedness plans and exercises for potential emergencies to ensure that our plans are effective and well implemented. We also expanded systems to communicate with workers in emergency conditions and help manage those crises for those who may be affected.
