HARTFORD, CT — City officials announced Tuesday that they will close their COVID-19 testing at the Arroyo Recreation Center on Thursday, May 11.
The finale coincides with President Joe Biden’s announcement that the U. S. national public fitness emergency will be a major major public fitness emergency. The U. S. due to COVID-19 will end on May 11.
The number of tests in Arroyo has decreased in recent months, from 66 tests in December 2022 to 31 tests in March.
No appointments have been scheduled in recent days.
“While the Arroyo testing center will close due to the federal cancellation of the National Public Health Emergency, we are running to make sure Hartford citizens have to be tested by other means,” said Jessica Fourquet, Hartford’s interim director of fitness and human resources services. .
In anticipation of this closure, the city will get a new offer of at-home COVID testing, which will be available to citizens of the city’s recreation centers, senior centers, gym, and social work place (131 Coventry St. ) and branches of the Hartford Public Library.
