The Israeli military says 14 Israelis and 3 foreigners have been released from captivity in the Gaza Strip. Qatar announces that 39 Palestinians will be released from Israeli jails today.

Hamas announced on Sunday that it had freed a Russian hostage from Gaza, while Egypt won lists of 13 Israelis and 39 Palestinians who were scheduled to be released later in the day as part of a truce between Hamas and Israel.

Separately, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry won a call from U. S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Sunday to discuss obstacles to the truce between Israel and Hamas and tactics for achieving a comprehensive ceasefire, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said.

During the phone call, Shoukry said he wants to take advantage of the truce while implementing the U. N. Security Council solution issued on Nov. 15, which calls for humanitarian pauses that can allow aid to Gaza, the ministry said in a statement.
