GUATEMALA CITY (Reuters) – Guatemalan President Alejandro Giammattei, who last week showed that he tested positive for coronavirus, said Tuesday that he is a “high-risk” patient due to his pre-existing medical condition and history of exaggerated smoking.
In a televised speech, Giammattei, 64, said he felt tired but also in a good mood and added that his oxygen levels, which may be an indicator of deteriorating health, were smart.
The exsurgeon, who took office in January, walks on crutches because of the sclerosis he suffered in his youth.
“I have to admit, I’m a high-risk COVID-19 patient of the disease I had,” Giammattei said.
He claimed that his maximum degrees of threat were also due to the fact that “he was a chronic smoker for many years, due to high blood pressure, due to the disease of the center, because I cannot be described as a very thin person. “
Guatemala recorded 85,694 infections and 3,134 COVID-19-related deaths.
