Seven other people have been arrested in connection with the sale of a false negative Covid check certificate to passengers at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris.
A police investigation, which opened last September, found that they had filed more than two hundred false negative certificates while at the airport, BFM TV reported.
The certificate issuer sold them between 150 and 300 euros.
The defendants, six men and an elderly woman between the age of 29 and 52, are being prosecuted for forgery and conspiracy to defraud, Bobigny’s prosecutor told the AFP news agency.
They benefited from the fact that negative Covid tests conducted within 72 hours of departure are now required to enter certain countries or regions, adding African countries and DOM-TOM.
They allegedly wrote fake certificates with the names of genuine labs that provided Covid evidence and then sent them to buyers on paper or in virtual format.
The defendants face up to five years in prison and a fine of EUR 375,000.
The French newspaper Libération reported in September that some other people going to DOM-TOM were being treated to steal Covid’s certificate of result.
At the time, the French verification functions were in great shape and some other people had to wait days for the verification results.
A similar discovery was reported in the UK in October, with the Lancashire Telegraph reporting that passengers travelling to Pakistan were taking Covid-19 verification certificates.
It is to provide a negative Covid check when boarding flights to certain European countries, such as Germany, Italy, and Austria. Most airports will offer the option of writing a check on arrival if passengers are unable to download a certificate beforehand.
France is now blocked and therefore the foreigner is only allowed for mandatory reasons, adding professional reasons or if other people return to their home country.
Anyone traveling to France from the United States will want to have a negative Covid test; If you can’t get one before you travel, you’ll need to get one when you arrive at Charles de Gaulle Airport.
