Government removes Czech Republic, Jamaica and Switzerland from safe broker list, adds Cuba

Update of 27 August 2020: The Czech Republic, Jamaica and Switzerland have been removed from the official list of government coronavirus brokers, meaning that those returning to the UK from there will have to isolate themselves for 14 days.

This takes from 04:00 on Saturday 29 August.

The government also informs the 22nd of all essential trips to those destinations.

Last week, Croatia, Austria and Trinidad and Tobago were removed from the list of runners. France and Spain are no longer considered safe (see below).

Cuba has been added to the list of runners, so that whoever returns no longer has to isolate themselves after Saturday.

The government has announced it is removing France from its ‘travel corridors’ list. This means that from 4am on 15 August, all passengers arriving into the UK from France will have to self-isolate for 14 days.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Commonwealth Affairs (FCO) has also updated its rules on France and now advises the 12th-th illties all that is still essential for the country, adding the island of Corsica.

France was removed from England’s list of travel corridors along with five other destinations: the Netherlands, Monaco, Malta, the Turks and Caicos Islands and Aruba.

The government states: “The Joint Centre for Biosafety and Public Health in England have reported a significant replacement in the coronavirus threat (COVID-19) in all 6 destinations, leading ministers to remove them from the list of rooms.”

Data from France show that during the following week (August 7-13), there has been a 66% increase in new reported cases and a 52% increase in the weekly occurrence rate of 100,000 inhabitants, indicating a sharp increase in COVID-19.

If you arrive in the UK from France after 4 a.m. From August 15, you’ll want to isolate yourself for two weeks. In fact, it is no longer on the government’s “runners” list, the list of countries and territories from which you can travel to England without having to isolate yourself.

This applies to both British citizens and the United Kingdom.

Isolating yourself means leaving the place where you stay for the first 14 days of your stay in the UK.

If you stay in a hotel or guest house, you’ll need to stay away from others, so you deserve to avoid unusual spaces like bars or restaurants.

There are limited cases that allow you to leave your home in England, such as for urgent medical assistance or to attend the funeral of a member of the family circle or user you live with.

The FCO does not advise those already in France to leave at this time and advises travellers to “follow the local government’s recommendation on the most productive way to protect themselves and others, adding up the measures that put the virus in place.”

You should contact your tour operator if you have any questions about your return trip, but keep in mind that there may be delays due to a large volume of calls.

Some passengers, of course, must return to the UK early, but they should be aware that the call is most likely high, especially over the weekend.

Eurotunnel Le Shuttle states on its website: “Given the replacement of quarantine needs for British travellers returning from France, Eurotunnel Le Shuttle wishes to inform consumers who are lately in France, and hoping to return earlier, that they will have to replace their tickets online. If you return on or after August 15 and have commitments like paintings after your break that require you to leave your home, it is valuable to talk to those who would possibly be affected by their isolation as soon as possible.

While the FCO advises position 19 in all unless a must-have holiday package in France, adding Corsica, must be cancelled through its agency.

“We are sorry for our visitors who were looking for a well-deserved vacation.”

Many flights are likely to continue to operate and, unless yours is cancelled, you are not entitled to a refund.

However, some airlines have brought more flexible policies due to the uncertainty surrounding them at the moment, so if you no longer need Array check if you can move your flight or cancel and claim a coupon.

easyJet issued the following statement: “easyJet takes note of the government’s ruling to impose a quarantine requirement on those travelling from France, Malta and the Netherlands.

“We plan to work with our full schedule in the coming days. Customers who no longer wish can move their flights without replacement charges or get a coupon for the price of the reservation. If a flight is cancelled by the end of August, consumers will be fit and in the form of their options, adding loose moves to a flight of choice, receiving a coupon or requesting a refund via an internet form at our Covid support center committed to easyJet.com

British Airways (BA) also has a reliable booking policy that states that consumers replace the dates and destination of a booking without incurring a replacement payment for bookings made between 3 March and 30 September. However, you will have to pay any difference in the rate.

For bookings made in the same date range, for trips that must end until August 31, 2021, BA allows consumers to cancel bookings and will give you a coupon of the same price for a long-term booking.

For hotels and other accommodations, such as campsites, please refer to your accommodation provider’s policy as you are guaranteed a refund while it is still open.

It would possibly be attractive to contact your host if you need to cancel to see if this allows you some flexibility.

Ferries will most likely continue to operate, so you are not entitled to a refund. If you no longer wish to travel, please refer to your company’s replacement and cancellation policy as some have brought flexible policies.

DFDS announced on Twitter that it had added 4 more departures from Calais to repatriate customers.

He said: “The most productive recommendation for passengers checking out to return to the UK today is to replace their online booking before travelling to the port. This way, you can be sure you have a reserved seat and be able to travel. Please do not check out to show up at the port without a boat reservation, as you may have to wait a long time for you to have room for the next departure.

It also brought the DFDS guarantee, which means that if you booked directly, you can cancel or replace trips with loose by December 31.

P-O Ferries says: “Our ferries are still in service on our routes from Dover to Calais, Hull to Rotterdam and Hull to Zeebrugge for shipping and cargo services. Our routes from Cairnryan to Larne and Liverpool to Dublin are unaffected by these updates.

“If you are in Belgium, the Netherlands or France and are affected by the new quarantine board or have selected not to (August reservations only), you have the following options: Change your booking free of charge or; Claim a score credit for long trips.”

Eurostar said: “To offer you flexibility and tranquility, we will offer you an eVoucher if you have to start your Eurostar adventure between Friday 10 March and Monday 7 September 2020.”

With Eurotunnel Le Shuttle, the option to get a refund will depend on your ticket type. Some, such as “Standard Refundable” and “Flexiplus” tickets, can be cancelled online using a form.

Most other tickets can be replaced online and says: “Because our phone lines are very busy, for trips that expire between August 7 and 20, we expand the era in which you can replace your booking 10 days after your vacation so you don’t lose the price of your tickets.” Find out more here.

If you are not entitled to a refund for parts of your trip, such as flights, hotels or car rentals, you may be able to file a claim about your insurance.

However, insurers have begun to adjust to offer more policies for coronavirus claims, this is more likely if you bought your insurance and booked your vacation before mid-March, when coronavirus restrictions were implemented in the UK.

If in doubt, contact your insurer for advice.

If you are working in France, or in any other position where the FCO warns you to oppose all those who are still a must haveArray, your insurance may not be valid. This means that if something goes wrong, you will have to pay all your fees.

The government has made it transparent that its lists of recommendations and exemptions are constantly reviewed and advises: “People who make plans to travel abroad should be aware that, unfortunately, disruptions may occur to protect public fitness, and the government is willing to remove countries from corridors temporarily to identify whether the threat of public fitness of others returning from a particular country without isolating itself becomes too high.

“Passengers deserve to be aware of their ability to isolate themselves before deciding to travel abroad at the time of a change of spirit.”
