Government of Canada invests to expand tourism in Gaspésie

The local Committee of Développement de L’Anse-à-Valleau is receiving more than $170,000 in monetary assistance from CED for activities presented at the Pointe-à-la-Renommée Historic Site.

Supporting the tourism industry contributes to the economic progress of the regions of Quebec. That is why the Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, Member of Parliament of Gaspésie–Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine and Minister of National Revenue, on behalf of the Honourable Pascale St-Onge, Minister of Sports and Guilty Minister of CED, announced a non-refundable contribution of $172,767 to the Local Development Committee of L’Anse-à-Valleau for the opening of new interactive exhibits at the Pointe-à-la-Renommée Historic Site.

This CED funding, awarded through the Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP), allowed the Committee to digitize its exhibits to offer visitors bilingual and contactless virtual routes available in spring and fall in addition to the summer season. This allocation will allow the organization to mitigate the effects of the labor shortage that has been wreaking havoc for several years, while providing regional tourism activities that respect social distancing.

The Local Committee of Développement de L’Anse-à-Valleau is an ONL that was created in 1993. His project is to give life to the historic site of Pointe-à-la-Renommée for economic, tourist and social influence. of the people and cultural development.
