The foreign advocacy organization Global Citizen and the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) have teamed up to create the Nigerian Solidarity Support Fund (NSSF), a Nigerian fund for Nigerians to combat the devastating effects and restrictions on other Nigerians in COVID-19. With an initial purpose of $50 million, the NSSF hopes to collect donations from Nigerians in the country such as the diaspora, multilateral organizations, philanthropists, UFOs, businesses, the public sector and foreign companies.
Grants will be granted to finance projects that meet the NSSF’s 3 main objectives. The fund will target Nigeria’s most vulnerable communities and will vary according to projects decided through the Nigeria Solidarity Support Fund Statutory Council, which will set up caps and caps for grants.

The NSSC is subject to a three-tier governance formula to ensure that all contributions to the Fund are effectively recognized, accounted for and controlled, and that all disbursements are aligned with the Fund’s mandate and that their effect is managed and reported.
Led through a statutory board of experienced and reputable members, the NSSF is administered independently and transparently controlled through a fund control formula that aims to ensure that all contributions are administered and distributed in a responsible manner so that as much as possible has an effect on combating the COVID-19 pandemic and mitigating its effects.
