German-Korean Partnership Accelerates Battery and Semiconductor Innovations

(BRIEF) A collaboration program funded through Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) aims to boost advances in semiconductor and mobile battery generation through foreign partnerships. The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, in combination with 8 of its institutes, has signed up to the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. These centers facilitate collaboration between South Korean corporations and global studies institutes, making plans, signing strong projects, and offering expertise. The opening of the coordination center in Berlin solidified this close collaboration, and Fraunhofer expressed his excitement about the opportunity to be informed from South Korea, one of the most innovative countries in the world. Eight Fraunhofer institutes will contribute to the partnership, and KIAT will invite other German entities to sign up for the sale of technological innovations.

(PRESS RELEASE) MUNICH, April 26, 2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Working in combination to boost technological inventions in semiconductor and mobile battery generation is the purpose of a comprehensive foreign collaboration program funded through Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE). The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, with 8 of its institutes, is his spouse in Germany. On Wednesday, the collaboration was sealed with a letter of agreement and the opening of a coordination center.

In total, there are six such focal points around the world, which aim to consolidate collaboration between South Korean corporations and foreign think tanks. The coordination center in Germany joins a network of offices in the United States, in addition to MIT, Yale and Johns. Together, they shape a collaborative platform that South Korean corporations must use to connect more closely with the most sensible partners around the world.

The responsibilities of these centers include providing both parties with applicable experience, making joint curricula and progression assignments, and supporting South Korean students under the MOTIE-funded program. The organizer and sponsor of the task is the Korean Institute for Technological Advancement (KIAT). As part of this foreign collaboration, several million US dollars will be invested in Germany alone.

ÀBerlin, KIAT and Fraunhofer inaugurated the coordination center in the presence of representatives of the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and sealed their close cooperation with the signing of a letter of understanding. Johann Feckl, head of pre-competitive research and international affairs at Fraunhofer, said: “We are very pleased that South Korea has selected Fraunhofer, in combination with renowned US think tanks, as a partner of exmobileence to jointly drive advances in spaces such as mobile batteries and semiconductor technology. Our close partnership is critical because South Korea is not only a critical political partner, but also one of the ten most innovative countries in the world. We can receive a lot of information from others and generate new wisdom in combination. .

Under the umbrella of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, 8 Fraunhofer institutes will participate in the partnership: the Fraunhofer Institute for Organic Electronics, Electron Ray Technology and FEP Plasma in Dresden, for Telecommunications, the Heinrich-Hertz Institute, the HHI in Berlin, for Integrated Technologies. Systems and Device Technology IISB in Erlangen, for Applied Polymer Research IAP in Potsdam, for Production Technology IPT in Aachen, for Materials Recycling and Resource Strategies IWKS in Alzenau, as well as for Ceramic Technologies and Systems IKTS (project manager) and for Material and Beam Technology IWS, also in Dresden. Other Fraunhofer institutes, such as the Fraunhofer Institute for ISC silicate research in Würzburg, will be involved in long-term projects. KIAT also invites other German institutions and corporations to join the association.
