GE Power has completed the virtual transformation of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity and Water’s Sabiya combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant ahead of schedule. The assignment marks the first time GE’s Predix*-based software programs for industry have been used in Kuwait.
Engineer Mohammed Boshehri, Undersecretary of Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity and Water, said: “Our purpose is to help the country focus on energy infrastructure and assistance in achieving Vision 2035 to make Kuwait a regional leader in all sectors. Providing reliable power and making sure we have highly productive energy assets is key to achieving our purposes. Sabiya CCGT’s virtual redevelopment, which employs GE’s complex virtual technologies, aims at the use of additional resources and productivity.
Several assets at Sabiya’s CCGT plant, adding combustion turbines, hydrogen-cooled generators, heat recovery steam generators, steam turbines and condensers, among others, have been incorporated into GE’s Asset Performance Management (APM) software application. The software relies on complex knowledge analysis to wait and reduce unplanned downtime, force plant availability and production.
Starting with the virtual migration, GE installed the Machine and Equipment Integrity Module, reliability Management Module, and APM Monitoring and Diagnostic Services.
“The virtual transformation of the THE CCGT Sabiya plant underscores our commitment to help unlocking the true potential of Kuwait’s force infrastructure,” said Joseph Anis, president and CEO of GE’s energy services business in the Middle East and Africa. “The virtualization of power plants presents an opportunity for both expansion and savings and we are proud to have completed this historic allocation ahead of schedule to increase plant availability and performance. “
APM is based on GE’s Predix, a knowledge platform specially designed for the scale and complexity of business knowledge. The APM solution enables Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity and Water to reliability and availability Sabiya CCGT’s assets by harnessing the strength of the commercial Internet. – the integration of big data analytics with heavy machinery. Connected machines, equipped with data sensors, collect gigantic amounts of data on a centralized and secure data platform. lack of time.
The allocation builds on GE’s strong legacy of contributions to the progress of Kuwait’s power generation sector. GE’s investments in Kuwait come with the GE Kuwait Technology Center, which serves 3 key spaces for power consumers in the Middle East and Africa: training, tools and engineering. Technologies . GE now generates more than a third of Kuwait’s electric power and the company creates jobs for more than 250 people in the country.
GE provides knowledge, capacity building and empowerment of the region’s workforce. Thirty% of the population of the Middle East and North Africa is between 15 and 29 years old. In the UAE, we partner with Mubadala Development Company to build local capacities through empowering local skills through our Business Leadership Acceleration (LAB) initiative.
