Commercial asset owners, realtors, and network leaders piled up at Rockaway Plaza on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023, as the GatewayJFK Business Improvement District (BID) hosted its first-ever Turkey Drive. Working with local leaders, including Congressman Gregory Meeks, State Senator James Sanders, Assemblymembers Vivian Cook and Khaleel Anderson, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz, New York City President Adrienne Adams, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards, and Councilmember Selvena Brooks. Powers, GatewayJFK’s first annual turkey drive marked a momentous moment for new partnerships, collaborations and donations. CEO James Johnson, who took office on August 1, 2023, expressed his gratitude, saying, “It’s wonderful to know that 500 turkeys equals 500 families for dinner. This occasion embodies the vision of the GatewayJFK Business Improvement District, where our purpose is not only quality of life, but also to create a network where families thrive together.
Executive Director James Johnson needs to integrate the 3Ps: Purpose, Partnership and Productivity into GatewayJFK, the Business Improvement District (BID) located directly outside JFK International Airport, one of the largest airports in the country with $20 billion invested in the JFK redevelopment.
GatewayJFK aims to improve the quality of life in the community by detecting the varied reports of all who work, visit and live in and near it. The organization encourages district members to work together to find an appropriate balance between industrial, advertising and residential. interests.
