Gareth Southgate is watching the final weekend of Premier League action from afar due to Covid-19 precautions which he hopes will not prevent England players from spending time with those they enjoy in Qatar.
The curtain falls on top-tier club football this weekend as attention turns to the World Cup, which the Three Lions open against Iran on Nov. 21.
Southgate hopes to fix any injury issues in his 26-man squad, whom he won’t see in the user this weekend as the England manager watches games in a multi-screen setup.
“I probably wouldn’t go to the games this weekend,” he said. “We’re a little cautious about the Covid scenario. It’s probably too cautious, but, you know, we think we should. “
“But we will do everything. We have a formula where we can broadcast all the games live, so we’ll have that. “
“And we have doctors in each and every game just to make sure that if scans are needed, for example, we’re there as temporarily as possible. “
Measures have been taken to avoid the risk of coronavirus in Qatar.
The precautions are logical, but Southgate hopes that won’t prevent those at the England camp from seeing members and families at the tournament.
“We’re still a little fluid on that,” he said. We prefer to promise little and deliver excessively. “
“We would like that to happen, we believe it is a vital component of a team that feels comfortable and comfortable.
“But at the moment, none of us know what the most likely transmission rate will be.
“Families will remarkably combine in greater numbers with other people in stadiums and things like that. We’re going to have to stick to that. “
“There are tactics to do it more safely outside, so we have plans in place. We want that to happen, but we want to monitor it very closely. “
