Part of the expanded group’s sustainability roadmap
GAC Bahrain will install photovoltaic solar panels on the roof of its warehouse at Bahrain Investment Wharf in Al Hidd as part of the GAC Group’s broader commitment to protect the environment and reduce its carbon footprint.
For the project, transport and transit company GAC Bahrain partnered with local renewable energy structures company Al Mannai Projects to install 552 solar panels that will generate approximately three hundred KW of electric power to meet the facility’s electrical power needs.
This progression is the newest component of the GAC Group’s commitment to selling sustainability and accelerating decarbonisation in the wider maritime and logistics industries. GAC Bahrain joins GAC’s growing number of renewable energy offices to reduce its carbon footprint.
It is also connected to Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, which aims to reduce carbon emissions by 30% through local decarbonisation projects and double the progress of regional renewable infrastructure.
“Our new sun allocation is an essential step in our ecological adventure and demonstrates our commitment to renewable resources in line with the country’s Economic Vision 2030 and the GAC Group’s commitment to adapt and innovate its business towards a sustainable future,” said Johan Fulke. , Director General of GAC Bahrain.
Al Mannai Projects is one of the leading developers of renewable energy technologies and is part of Mannai Bahrain Group, one of the largest and oldest trading companies in the country. Its Renewable Technology department provides solar energy solutions for homes, offices, advertising buildings and residential advancements. in Bahrain.
Talal Al Mannai, Chief Executive Officer of Al Mannai Projects, said: “We are proud to be working with GAC Bahrain on this sun allowance as we all strive to achieve a sustainable future. We supply sustainable, reliable and high-quality solar energy to the region. , and all our designs meet the strict criteria of foreign criteria and the Bahrain Water and Electricity Authority (EWA).
This sun allocation is in line with the GAC Group’s overall sustainability strategy, which includes a commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and a carbon-free future. As a component of its sustainability roadmap, GAC is committed to adapting, innovating and reducing its business and engaging with local stakeholders to create long-term towards a sustainable future.
As organizations and governments around the world seek to use renewable energy to decrease their carbon production, as well as their dependence on oil and gas, the solar power is proving to be a popular choice for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. Solar strength is noticeable as a long-term infinite force solution and the GCC countries seem poised to take advantage of their abundant sustainable electricity source.
In 2014, Bahrain formed its Sustainable Energy Unit (SEU) as a component of a joint initiative of the Office of the Minister of Electricity and Water and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to expand a sustainable energy policy and promote renewable energy.
Since its inception, SEU has developed two key policies: the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan (NEEAP) and the National Renewable Energy Action Plan (NREAP), to ensure the sustainable energy transition foreseen in the Economic Vision 2030 and the long term of the country. environmental goal of generating 10% of its energy from renewable energies by 2035.
