ATLANTA, GA – As the extensive care sets in the Georgia component fill up at full capacity and amenities like Grady Memorial in Atlanta reach their limits, the state reported more than 400 new hospitalizations Wednesday afternoon.
The one-day total, 420, follows 406 new hospitalizations on Tuesday. Near new hospitalizations were reported on Friday and on Thursday 431.
Georgia reported 3,373 new COVID-19 cases and 79 deaths on Wednesday.
Those who test positive for COVID-19 do not necessarily have poor health; in some cases, they may not even have symptoms, but they can transmit the coronavirus to other vulnerable people.
CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS
The Georgia Department of Public Health reported a total of 178323 shown from COVID-19 at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday. According to the Ministry of Health’s website, this is 3373 more than reported at the same time on Tuesday.
Georgia has also reported 3642 deaths from COVID-19, 79 more than Tuesday. In addition, the state reported 17,964 hospitalizations – 420 more than the previous day – and 3,301 admissions to extensive care sets to date.
No data are available in Georgia on the number of patients cured.
Counties within or near the Atlanta Metro continue to have the number of positive cases, with Fulton still leading and Gwinnett County exceeding 16,000 instances overall for the first time on Wednesday.
Counties in or near the Atlanta Metro also continue to have the highest death toll by COVID-19. The only exception is Dougherty County, from Georgia’s first primary outbreak.
On Wednesday, Georgia administered more than 1.7 million COVID-19 tests, and about 13% of those tests were the least used to find antibodies.
For reliable maximum control of the virus itself, 10.8% of the controls yielded positive results. For less reliable antibody testing, 6.3% tested positive. The overall positive rate is around 10.3%.
As more and more Georgians have been reviewed in recent weeks, positive percentages for both viral and general controls have increased slightly. On July 6, the percentage of checks overall that yielded positive results was only 8.7%.

Worldwide, more than 16.8 million other people have inflamed with COVID-19 and more than 662,000 people have died, Johns Hopkins University reported On Wednesday.
In the United States, nearly 4.4 million more people were inflamed and more than 150,000 people died from COVID-19 on Wednesday. The United States has only about 4% of the world’s population, yet it showed more cases and deaths than any other country.
