France will have a military presence in Estonia, Lithuania and Romania

More troops and aircraft will be sent to the Baltics and Romania to strengthen NATO’s presence in Eastern Europe in the coming months, French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu said on Tuesday.

Additional forces will be in Estonia and Rafale fighter jets in Lithuania, CNN reported.

They will arrive in late October or early November.

France will deploy a reinforced armored infantry vehicle company to Romania, such as a Charles Leclerc tank squadron, Lecornu said.

France has taken the lead in NATO’s presence in Romania and 750 troops have already been deployed in the country.

French President Emmanuel Macron did so on Monday night, the minister said.

The France is a member of the Estonian NATO Battalion and three hundred Gentile squadrons are stationed at the Tapa army base.

It also participates in NATO Baltic Air Police missions in Estonia and Lithuania.
