A squadron of Rafale fighters will be sent to carry out aerial surveillance missions in Romanian airspace, French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu said at an assembly with Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca.

The two officials discussed concrete elements of the Romanian-French strategic partnership, adding elements of deterrence and defense to NATO’s timeline and the lack of security in the Black Sea region, according to a Romanian government press release.
