PARIS: The French Ministry of Health reported 3304 new coronavirus infections on Tuesday (August 25), well below the daily peaks seen last week, more young adults tested positive, many with no symptoms.

The number of new infections above 1995 reported on Monday, a day that historically shows a decrease, however, remained well below Sunday’s new post-blocking record of 4897 and below the ranks above 3600 reported at the time of last week.

The cumulative total increased to 248158, with 30544 deaths, totaling 16 in the last 24 hours, while the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 fell from 90 to a new low after the closure of 4600.

The number of other people in extensive care has increased from 11 to 410 and has now returned to the degrees last noticed in late July, but remains well below the peak of more than 7,000 in early April.

Epidemiologists say limited pressure in hospitals is due to the fact that the virus now circulates actively among young people, who sometimes have fewer or no symptoms of respiratory disease.

But an increase in infections among young adults is beginning to appear in hospital statistics, the Ministry of Health said in its most recent review.

The number of other people under the age of 40 hospitalized by COVID-19 has more than doubled to 18% since the beginning of July, with around 8% from February to July, according to ministry data. Approximately 13% of intensive care patients were under the age of 40, and 7% in the spring.

Dominique Costagliola, an epidemiologist at the INSERM institute of study, said France remains alert.

“It’s hard to believe that the virus remains confined to other young Array people. The more it circulates among other young people, the more likely it is to succeed in the effect of the elderly,” he said, alluding to the option of more serious infections in the elderly.
