PARIS – French researchers say they have had encouraging initial effects from the controls of a COVID-19 control formula which they say can produce effects in 40 minutes with a swab and want to send samples to a lab.
The French formula showed an accuracy of 87. 5% to stumble upon positive effects when tested in a pattern of 220 people, the researchers said, and now have the approval of the French regulator for the formula for the use of input advertisements.
“This can be done anywhere,” said Alexandra Prieux, president of SkillCell, one of the project partners.
The system, called EasyCOV, is one of the many features developed worldwide to verify and resolve a bottleneck with COVID-19 tests.
Most of the tests are based on doing deep exchanges in the nostrils and then sending the standard to a laboratory where chemical equipment and equipment made by a handful of manufacturers is analyzed. Effects can take days.
This arrangement has led to shortages and delays that epidemiologists say obstruct efforts to temporarily isolate instances and leave governments unsused from hotels to costly closures.
The EasyCOV system, developed through a partnership between SkillCell and the National Center for Scientific Research, gets to take a saliva pattern from the patient’s mouth with a pipette.
Saliva is transferred to tubes that are heated in a special portable device designed for on-site use. After 40 minutes, the result is ready. If the fluid in the tube is yellow, the patient has COVID-19; if the liquid is orange, they are negative.
The consortium said that since initial control with 220 people, it has expanded its controls to reach a pattern of 720 people. The effects of these broader controls are still being analyzed, they said. (Written through Christian Lowe; Edited via Mike Collett -White)
