The Welsh government added 3 more Greek islands to its quarantine list hours before the restrictions came into effect.
Travelers arriving in Wales from Santorini, Serifos and Tinos will have to isolate themselves for 14 days starting at 4am on Wednesday.
Health Minister Vaughan Gething said Tuesday night that he had reviewed the latest tests at the Joint Biosafety Center (JBC) before making the decision.
This follows a Thursday announcement inviting travellers arriving from Portugal, Gibraltar, French Polynesia such as the Greek islands of Mykonos, Zakynthos, Lesbos, Paros, Antiparos and Crete to isolate themselves from four a. m. the following day.
The measure comes after the Ministry of Transport announced quarantine measures on Monday for travellers arriving in England from the named Greek islands, with the exception of Paros and Antiparos.
This is a component of the government’s new regional quarantine policy technique, in which islands can be added or removed from the quarantine list if infection rates differ from those of their continental countries.

Social gatherings of more than six other people will be illegal in England from Monday, as the government seeks to curb coronavirus cases.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson will use a press convention on Wednesday to announce replacement in law after covid-19’s number of positive cases in the UK rose to nearly 3,000.
The legal restriction for social gatherings will be reduced from another 30 people to six and will apply to indoor meetings and meetings, adding personal homes as well as parks, pubs and restaurants.
Meetings of more than six people shall be allowed when the family or bubble is greater than six, or where the collection is for paintings or for school purposes.
Exemptions will also be for weddings, funerals and team sports organized safely through Covid.
Johnson says at the press conference:
We will now have to act to prevent the spread of the virus, so we simplify regulations on social contacts, making them less difficult to perceive and enforce through the police.
It is probably imperative that others now adhere to these regulations and the basics: washing their hands, covering their faces, staying in the area for others and checking for symptoms.
Downing Street said medical leader Professor Chris Whitty, chief scientific adviser Sir Patrick Vallance and the government agreed that urgent action is needed after the accumulation of coronavirus cases.

Corporate CEOs proposing covid-19 vaccines have pledged to “maintain the integrity of the clinical process,” fearing donald Trump will put pressure on regulators to pass a vaccine before the November presidential election.
“We, the biopharmaceutical companies below signatories, must make transparent our continued commitment to future and future vaccines for Covid-19 in accordance with the main moral criteria and sound clinical principles,” the CEOs said.
