BERLIN (AP) — The Taliban government in Afghanistan has arrested four local workers from Germany’s most sensible aid agency, according to Germany’s Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
“I can verify that local GIZ workers are detained; we have not obtained any official information about the reasons for his detention,” a ministry spokeswoman told The Associated Press on Saturday.
“We are taking this scenario very seriously and are using all channels at our disposal to secure the release of our colleagues,” he added.

The German Agency for International Cooperation, or GIZ, is owned by the German government.
