July 3 (UPI) – Four other people were injured Monday in an explosion at a Tokyo bar that police say was possibly due to a fuel leak.
“I think I can smell something like fuel or sewage in the smoking area and when I used a fabric softener to soften a cigarette, there was an explosion,” the owner said.
Other victims included another bar worker and two bystanders.
Authorities later discovered a higher-than-usual fuel concentration in the bar, located on the current floor of a building.
The explosion started a fire, which was later extinguished.
The place to eat is about three hundred meters from JR Shimbashi Station. The domain closed and police told passers-by to stay about a hundred meters from the site.
