Four dead when tourist boat sinks near Galapagos Islands

Four other people died and two are missing after a tour boat sank near the Galapagos Islands on Sunday night, Santa Cruz officials told ABC News.

Authorities said 31 passengers were rescued and two are missing.

An Israeli-American citizen, a Colombian and an Ecuadorian were killed, according to Santa Cruz officials.

The boat sank near Tortuga Bay and was traveling between Isabella Island and Santa Cruz, authorities said.

The ship’s 3 engines reportedly stopped working after running out of fuel, he said.

More than two dozen rescuers from Ecuador and the Galapagos National Park are in charge of the two missing passengers, authorities said.

Ecuador’s Galapagos Islands are an archipelago in the Pacific Ocean and come with Santa Cruz Island.
