The Indian government’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday issued a directive for all states and union territories amid a global surge in coronavirus cases. The directive urged all applicable governments in states to “Test-Treat-Treatment and Vaccination. “
The directive also mentions that states and the government will need to maintain strict vigilance and ensure that a proper habit to Covid-19 is maintained to prevent the virus from spreading again.
The directive suggested others continue to wear masks, hand hygiene and physical distancing, especially ahead of the upcoming festival season and New Year’s celebrations.
The following topics were discussed in the directive
-Ensure effective compliance with the detailed operation for the revised surveillance strategy for Covid-19 as shared through the Ministry of Union and Family Welfare
-Track and report cases of influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory illness (AIRS) in all fitness services as normal, adding the IHIP portal, to stumble upon the early upward trend in cases. These cases can also be tested for Covid-19.
Ensure good enough testing in all districts in accordance with Covid-19 testing rules by maintaining the percentage of RT-PCR and antigen tests.
-Ensure superior samples for whole genome sequencing among positive Covid-19 samples in the community, to allow immediate detection of new variants, if any, in the country.
-Make an inventory of existing hospital capacities in terms of bed availability, logistical needs and the will to redirect health care in the clinical control of Covid-19 to be prepared for any rebound in cases. This can be verified by performing “blank tests” in hospitals.
-Vaccination efforts against Covid-19 should be strengthened through community awareness. Particular attention is required to expand the “dose of caution” policy in all States/SWUs.
-In terms of preparation for the upcoming festivities, it is imperative that all measures are put in place with the relevant stakeholders, such as event organizers, business owners, market positioning associations, etc. indoor environments, dressed in masks in those stalls where crowds are concentrated.
-Create awareness in the network to seek its continuity in the management of Covid-19, adding adherence to the appropriate behavior to Covid.
