Nathan VanderKlippe is a correspondent for The Globe and Mail.
Previously, he was a correspondent for The Globe in Asia, founded in Beijing, where his reporting took him across the region covering political developments, social trends, foreign affairs, refugee crises, herbal bugs and, occasionally, hockey games. He won the Canada Award and National Newspaper Award for his articles on the plight of Uighurs in China.
In Beijing, he has served several terms on the board of trustees of the China Foreign Correspondents Club, as chairman.
Prior to joining The Globe in 2009, VanderKlippe, a press and television correspondent in Western Canada, founded in Calgary, Vancouver and Yellowknife. He has covered Canada’s energy industry, Aboriginal issues and Northern Canada.
He has reported through Amnesty International, the National Magazine Awards, the Canadian Association of Journalists, the Society of American Commercial Writers and Publishers, and the China International Association of Journalists.
