ORLANDO, Florida – The Florida Department of Health reported on Sunday 3,779 new cases of coronavirus and 107 new resident deaths, bringing the total number of residents across the state to 573,416 and the number of residents deaths to 9,452.

From Sunday to Sunday, Florida recorded 1,266 recently reported deaths, including 40,610 cases and 3,423 hospitalizations, according to the knowledge of the state’s fitness department.

The recent deaths on Sunday occurred several days earlier, even a month earlier. An outbreak of cases in June and early July can be attributed to about 5,000 deaths last month.

Sunday-Sunday figures also show the number of hospitalizations reported in a week, however, those figures may come with instances that are several weeks old.
At 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, 5,703 patients statewide were hospitalized with COVID-19 as their number one diagnosis, a number that has dropped from more than 8,000 in mid-July, when the state began reporting ongoing hospitalizations.

Central Florida added on Sunday 632 instances for a total of 88,718:202 new instances in Orange for 33,382; 117 in Polk by 15,429; 86 in Osceola by 10,314; 50 in Volusia by 8,452; 47 in Seminole by 7,471; 86 in Brevard by 10,314; 32 in Lake by 5,619; and 65 to Sumter by 1,540. Central Florida recorded 12 of the recent deaths on Sunday, bringing the number of casualties in the region to 1,447. These are six new deaths in Volusia County, 4 in Brevard and one in Lake and Osceola counties each.
Polk County leads the deaths in Central Florida with 358, followed by 351 in Orange, 178 in Brevard, 169 in Volusia, 145 in Seminole, 119 in Osceola, lake and 44 in Sumter.
Central Florida accounts for more than 15% of cases nationwide and more than 15% of deaths. The percentage of state deaths in the region was higher since June and early July, when it remained consistently below 9% of Florida’s total.
South Florida, home to 29% of Florida’s population, accounts for approximately 44% of cases with a total of 250,883. These 1,563 new cases were reported Sunday in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
Deaths reported Sunday in South Florida were higher for a total of 4,029, or about 43% of the state’s total.
In Central Florida, 265 are recently hospitalized in Orange County, 103 in Osceola, 82 in Seminole and Lake.
