The SEC football game scheduled for Saturday between Florida No. nine and LSU was postponed due to COVID-1nine issues, announced the convention on Wednesday.
Florida announced Tuesday that it will postpone the team’s operations due to five positive tests last week. Quarantines for players inflamed with the virus and those quarantined to track contracts have left the Gators involved about the option to line up a team for the game in Gainesville.
Florida Athletic director Scott Stricklin said at a news convention Wednesday that the Gators had 21 positive COVID-19 tests and had “fewer than 50 fellows available at the time” considering quarantine. LSU games are 3 below the SEC limit.
The postponed game is tentatively postponed until December 12, a week before the SEC championship game.
“Our priority is the fitness and well-being of our student-athletes and staff,” LSU Sports Director Scott Woodward said in a statement. “The resolution to postpone gambling is the result of close coordination and cooperation with the University of Florida and SEC Officials, and we fully agree. It’s disappointing for everyone, but careful. We wish the most productive to all those affected in Florida ».
Florida and LSU lost games last week and had to recover and stay in their respective divisions. The Gators will then play October 24 at home in front of Missouri if fitness situations allow. The Tigers have a house game opposite South Carolina on the same day.
