Florida liquor licenses suspended for COVID-19 violations

TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/NSF) – Liquor licenses at 4 Florida institutions were suspended until state Tuesday due to violations of regulations aimed at eliminating COVID-19.

The Department of Commercial and Professional Regulation has the emergency suspension of licenses for Pegasus Lounge – Package in Tampa, Mathers, Shots and Joysticks in Orlando, Rusty’s Raw Bar and Grill in Lee County and Pockets Pool – Pub in Tallahassee.

The state firm reported that corporations exceeded the national capacity ceiling of 50% and served alcohol to consumers who were “side by side” in bars.

On June 26, branch secretary Halsey Beshears banned the sale of alcohol for on-site consumption in corporations that derive more than 50% of their gross source of income from the sale of alcohol.

The measure necessarily closed the maximum of bars and clubs, institutions can remain open if they made enough profit from the sale of food products.

Beshears acted because the bars violated the needs that had been put in a position to verify to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by coronavirus.

Beshears recently held personal meetings with craft breweries and bar owners to discuss tactics to reopen businesses.

The firm did not announce what had been discussed or what measures could be taken for those companies.
