Five more COVID-19 cases reported as DeKalb County spends more than a week death

The DeKalb County Health Department reported on Thursday only five new cases of the new coronavirus, the lowest overall of the week, which also closed a full week without further deaths from the virus.

Thursday’s new instances (two 20-year-olds, two aged 30 and 50) bring the total number of instances to 1,129.

The death toll remained at 33, with no new cases or deaths in long-term care facilities. Willow Crest’s nursing ward in Sandwich remains the long-term care center still in epidemic mode, according to the Department of Health, with 57 settlement-related cases and 12 resident deaths.

No new deaths have been reported since August 19, when an 80-year-old man living in Willow Crest died.

A total of 145 cases were reported among 20-year-olds, 299 in their 20s, 180s, 30s, 148s in their 40s, 142 in their 50s, 85 in their 60s, 61s in their 60s and 69s in their 40s.

According to county data, the city of DeKalb reports between 531 and 535 cases (compared to Wednesday). There are 166 to 170 instances in sycamore; 136 to 140 sandwich; 96 to one hundred cases in Genoa; 61 to 65 cases in Cortland; 21 to 25 cases in Hinckley, Kirkland and Kingston, 16 to 20 in Somonauk and Malta; 11 to 15 at Waterman; and six to ten in Shabbona. Esmond, Earlville and Maple Park report one to five cases.

The Illinois Department of Public Health lists instances and zip code tests, while the county’s physical fitness branch lists instances across the municipality. The numbers range from state and health departments due to knowledge discrepancy.

In the 60115 zip code, DeKalb, 499 cases were reported and 8,719 tests were administered (a positivity rate of 5.8%); The 60178 zip code, Sycamore, had 174 instances and 3,848 tests (4.6%); The 60548 zip code, Sandwich, had 3,201 tests and 203 cases (6.3%); 60112, Cortland, had 58 instances and 826 tests (7.1%); the 60135 zip code, Genoa, had 91 instances and 1,332 tests (6.9%); 60145 zip code Kingston had 21 instances and 335 tests (6.1%) and the 60146 zip code, Kirkland, had 26 instances and 453 tests (5.8%).

In total, IDPH reported that another 227,334 people in Illinois tested positive for COVID-19, while another 7,977 people died across the state. 3,875,922 tests were conducted on Thursday. It also lists statewide recovery rates, calculated by dividing the recovered instances by the sum of the recovered and dead instances. Statewide recovery remained at 95%.

The updated knowledge of recovery and verification reported on August 21 shows that 794 citizens have fully recovered and that another 653 verifications were administered last week. As of August 21, 21,557 COVID-19 controls were negative in DeKalb County, with a positivity rate of 4.68%. New check and recovery numbers are expected on Friday.
