Five are missing in Oman due to heavy rains

Dubai: Five more people have gone missing in Oman due to heavy rains in the Sultanate, local media reported.

The Operations Centre of the Ambulance and Civil Defence Authority (SADC) said it had obtained a report on the drowning of 3 other people after their vehicle swerved towards Wadi Ahin in Sohar.

Rescue from the Department of Civil Defence and Ambulances of Al Batinah North Governorate arrived at the site. The search for missing persons is still ongoing.

Meanwhile, the rescue of the Royal Oman Police (ROP) continues to search for two missing expats in a flooded valley in Wilayat de Ibra.

ROP said in a statement: “A report of the grounding of two Asians inside a truck after it was diverted into the Masroun valley in Wilayat de Ibra due to the top of the water in the valley. Rescue groups are following up. “

In the last two days, another 4 people died, adding 3 children, due to heavy rains and flooding in Oman.

Severe thunderstorms are expected in Oman on the Eid Al Adha holiday, the Civil Aviation Authority said.

Rainfall ranging from 20 to millimeters is expected in the Sultanate.

The authority called on everyone to be careful with the rains, avoid crossing the wadis, avoid visiting low spaces and avoid venturing into the sea.
