(PRESS RELEASE) MILAN, March 25, 2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Fisia Italimpianti of the Webuild group has officially started the construction phase of the water treatment plant in Saudi Arabia, as a component of the huge Zuluf onshore oil complex in Persia. Gulf. Webuild’s position in the water market, a sector with great potential, in which it is already a leader, has been strengthened thanks to this assignment that has allowed Fisia Italimpianti to enter the oil sector.
The ZULUF oil field, owned and controlled through SAUDI ARAMCO, is part of a vast program of progress that began in 2018 as part of Saudi Arabia’s “Saudi Vision 2030” expansion plan. The task awarded last year to Fisia Italimpianti, with two contracts worth a total of €408 million ($439 million), respectively includes the structure and control of ZULUF’s water treatment plant.
The official commissioning of the structural paintings of the new water treatment plant follows the technical design, the acquisition of fabrics and the finishing of the first activities that have served to enhance the characteristics of the soil and that Fisia Italimpianti has truly carried out in recent months, to allow the site to accommodate the foundations of the plant.
The plant will be located in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. It will treat up to 185,000 m3/day of water, which will be injected into offshore wells, helping to increase the field’s crude oil production. The plant will have an initial defuel system with water. Formula that will extract, compress and deliver the fuel present in the water that enters the plant, to the end customer. Then, a water treatment and filtration section will be installed at the plant, with the aim of clarifying and reducing the solids content of the water, so that it is suitable for injection into oil wells. The order also includes auxiliary formulas and buildings that will serve as administrative offices, technical rooms and control rooms.
