First Quantum Announces Resumption of Normal Operations at Cobre Panama

TORONTO, 7 July 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – First Quantum Minerals Ltd. (“FQM” or “Company”) (FM. TO) announces that Cobre Panama can resume full production. The Company has noticed Resolution No. 1651, dated July 3, 2020, issued through the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Panama (“MINSA”) that lifts the transitional suspensions of its Panamanian subsidiary, Minera Panamá, SA Cobre Panama has been in Safe Preservation and Maintenance mode since April 6, 2020. The Company will implement a reapture plan that includes a slow build-up of staff on site while production increases at an annualized rate of 85 million tons consistent with the year.

As Copper Panama’s priority remains the suitability and protection of the workforce and surrounding communities, strict protocols and surveillance of suitability will be maintained. The operation is expected to succeed in full production until mid-August, depending on the successful implementation of the reopening plan.
