On Tuesday, October 4, Oman’s first satellite, Aman, was effectively ready to be launched into low-Earth orbit in Newquay, Cornwall, UK.
Integrated into a launcher, the LauncherOne rocket, the satellite will embark on its adventure later this year. The integration of the satellites is a major step towards achieving the objectives of Oman’s first mission.
The Sultanate of Oman represented through ETCO, an emerging generation innovator founded in Oman; Virgin Orbit, a primary satellite launch company founded in the United States; SatRev, a Polish nanosatellite manufacturer and operator, and TUATARA, specialists in complex artificial intelligence, knowledge analytics and cognitive generation solutions, continue to work on the Oman-area mission. The studies carried out led to the integration of Oman’s first CubeSat satellite, Aman, into the areacraft in a procedure carried out at Newquay Airport, Cornwall. Virgin Orbit’s integration team led the event, starting with a final cleanup and verification of the Omani satellite, making sure the Remove Before Flight (RBF) elements of the CubeSat were removed. Satellite prepared, placed on the trigger, followed by a series of rigorous controls.
“The integration of the satellite marks a milestone in the plan to send Oman’s first spacecraft to the area this year.
